Dean's Office

  • Mission

We are committed to helping guide ALL students in making responsible behavioral choices, thus allowing them to achieve academically and maximize their learning potential. Through this process we cultivate trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents. We utilize restorative practices to help maintain and build strong, positive relationships for all. Ultimately, we strive to create a safe and supportive learning community in which ALL students are supported as they develop and mature into independent and responsible adolescents. We expect ALL students to exhibit daily behaviors that demonstrate Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Excellence (PRIDE).

    Important Resources:

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Initiative:

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBS) focuses on maximizing academic success by explicitly teaching and continually reinforcing positive social behaviors in students and fostering a climate of safety and respect. We encourage all of our students to demonstrate “PRIDE”ful (P=Perseverance, R=Respect, I=Integrity, D=Discipline, and E=Excellence) behaviors contributing to a positive school climate.

    PRIDE Class/Curriculum:

Two days a week students participate in PRIDE lessons in their designated PRIDE class. Through the PRIDE Curriculum we identify, adapt, and sustain our school-wide expectations and disciplinary practices. Anti-bullying strategies are embedded into our PRIDE lessons.

    PBIS Incentives:

Adults in the building reward students for demonstrating “PRIDE”ful behaviors by distributing PRIDE Dollars. Students can then redeem their PRIDE dollars at the PRIDE Cart for merchandise. Merchandise includes pencils, erasers, bracelets, water bottles, and Liberty and Grandview Spirit Wear.

    Positive Behavior Referrals:

Adults also recognize students for “PRIDE”ful choices through positive Behavior Referrals. Teachers complete the referral, communicate with parents, and submit the referral to the Dean’s Office. The designated Dean then follows up with a phone call home as well and assigns and provides a positive incentive.
